Possessions are Fleeting

A , posted by Anthony in the evening.

In some ways it’s been a good week. In some ways. Patrick and Sinead had a little boy. That’s good. The first short I did here was mixed, and it all went well. The director seems happy, which is nice. So that’s good. The second short I’m doing has a hellish amount of work to do in a short time, but the director saw what I’d done so far today and he was happy. So that’s good. And the money from that will enable me to pay next month’s rent. So that’s good. Julian taught me another recipe, stuffed peppers, and that was good too.

But I’ve lost my hat.

It’s gone.

My hat.

I went to see someone who’d done some sound design on this short, and from her place I took a car in to Manhattan to go to a bluegrass gig with Marilyn, Liza and John. I’d brought my hard drive to the sound designer’s place, so I had more than the usual number of bags, and I left my hat in the car.

I went to the gig, which was very enjoyable. I wasn’t worried yet. I hadn’t seen any of these guys since I’d moved out, and it was nice to touch base. They heard that I’d left hat in the car, and automatically assumed I’d never get it back. But I was confident it would be turned in to the Lost and Found of the car company.

It wasn’t.

I suppose I should just give up and move on. I wore my Hallowe’en costume hat for a few days, and then I bought myself a temporary replacement. It’s a faux fur cossack (scroll down). It’s really warm, but it’s not the same. I’d had that hat for nearly four years. I bought it on my first visit to New York. I thought I’d have it forever sob.

But I’m going to view this as a crisatunity. I shall get a new hat. A better hat. A nicer hat. A hat that will be less easily lost, less difficult to clean, and considerably more waterproof. It may even have detachable ear flaps!

When I have some spare cash floating around, obviously.

Why didn’t you go for that red leather Big Apple cap? That’s so you!

Those earmuffs aren’t attached to a hat. Have you considered buying some of those? Or would they be unusable seeing as they’d interfere with the proper functioning of a brimmed hat?

I can’t wait to read the new recipe!

I regret that I broke some of your sacred rules in the Agony Anthoyn section, yet again, so to avoid my correction of your faulty logic being deleted and lost to the world I am presenting it here agin, complete with corrected spelling.

It really is difficult to check the spelling in your Ask section. The typing window is too small but I guess that’s just my fault for being too computer stupid to know how to change it.
