I’m missing Big Brother! I completely forget about that! OK, I’m coming home.
Seriously.
Well, OK, not seriously. But I’m sorely tempted. I have from the beginning been a dyed-in-the-wool BB addict/apologist, and this is a troubling sacrifice for me. OK, I’ve just seen the entire series’ of 24 and The Sopranos (last episode any day now) about a year earlier than I might have otherwise expected to, but… but…
Oh, I’ll get over it. After all, I can follow it on the internet.
But it’s not the same.
My former assistant Fiadhnait is in town, but she’s proving remarkably hard to meet up with, due to a lack of reliable telephonic communication technology at her end. I met up with her on Wednesday despite this. Not a crazy night, because I had a punishingly early class at the NYFA the next morning. It was late enough to make me really not want to do the punishingly early class, though.
But I managed. And with that ends my teaching, at least for a couple of months. They’re not going to need me again until the January students are ready for post – they start pre-production on Monday. Need money. Come on audiobooks… You know you want me…
And I went to see Kill Bill Vol.2, which I will review imminently.
See? No web talk!

At 8:03 pm on Friday 28th 2004f May 2004, Nigel postedWell I haven’t gotten around to buying my freeview box just yet so I guess I’ll be missing Big Brother. Not that I’d miss it anyway. I think I managed to more or less avoid it last year so perhaps I’ve successfully taken myself off the drip? Besides, the US version I saw last summer was much better entertainment. Sure, the contestants were all horrible obnoxious people, but at least they were open about being that to each other.
I’m going to bed now. I’ve just bored myself by writing letters to tax offices. Yawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwn!!!!!!!!!
Say hello to Fiadhnait for me.

At 8:23 pm on Friday 28th 2004f May 2004, Nigel felt the urge to writeActually, just after I finished washing the dishes I thought about yoour addiction and followed the link. I already dislike at least half the housemates. Victor and Michelle strike me as total f***wits and anybody who calls themselves ‘Kitten’ really does deserve to drown in the bath. Obscurity to them all I say! I shall not watch!
I can’t even remember ANYTHING about last year. Did I even watch it. List a couple of ‘memorable’ moments and I’l see if that jogs my memory.

Now to the new blog: are you reproducing, in its development, the history of cinema? The lure of technological development being followed at great aesthetic cost. The pristine purity of black and white whose demanding constraints formed real art. Sound, colour- siren voices inviting the meretricious. Please do not give up on the art that conceals art. Am I alone in detecting a certain loosening of your prose, a decline from its classical austerity?
