« « The Gravy Train is Slowing Down| Daragh Visits » »Slowly Grinding
I hope nobody out there is making a graph of my posting frequency. This downward spiral is truly lamentable. And I can’t even use the excuse of working. Yes, that’s right – Monday actually was my last day!
Well, I went in for an hour on Tuesday. And I’m going in today for a couple of hours. And I’m working tomorrow. But that’s it! That’s finally it! Probably. I’m going to be spending the next several weeks working on a low budget movie called “Lake Tahoe” for Mitchell Riggs. This comes via Drew Bellware, the guy for whom I’ve been writing. I was supposed to start cutting about two months ago – they’ve been very patient in waiting for me as Rockstar keep extending and extending my employment. And now it’s time.
The reason I haven’t been posting (or, indeed, answering emails – sorry, people, I’ll get right on it) has been Daragh’s visit. I’ll probably write a longer summary of the whole thing when it’s over (maybe even with pictures), and hopefully I’ll prevail on him to write a guest post, like Zaini. I was hoping that I wouldn’t have to work while he was here, but as it turns out I think Vanessa will be happy to take him off my hands for a while. She may even come up with a few things to show him that wouldn’t have ocurred to me.
And the email notification didn’t work for the last post. I have no idea why. I’ll see if it works for this post. If not, why, I’ll shake my fist at it. I’m still planning a big site redesign, but it’ll be at least a month at this rate before I get round to it. And I’ve been here nearly a year, so I want to write a big load of thoughts about how I feel about America and elections and stuff, partially because of this comment, and partially just because I’ve been thinking about it. But not today. I have to get up, have breakfast, make sure Daragh is surviving Ok, and head in to work.

At 3:48 pm on Thursday 23rd 2004f September 2004, Jim Rickard wanted everyone to knowI can’t believe it has been nearly a year. I will definitely have to start saving for a flight to New York! Have you suffered any illnesses from returning to work, as is your wont? Or is N.Y. better for your allergies?
I thought you’d like to know that you unwittingly made me an educational tool. I used that song ‘white boy with a feather in his hair’ to illustrate to my year 11s (15 year olds) how a song could tell a story. We then went on to write a song about Frankenstein, the book we are studying. Do you have any good monster-coming-to-life sound effects handy? In fact, a sound effects cd would come in very useful to create atmosophere in the classroom…
Speaking of music, have you heard of a band called Cake? one of my colleagues lent me one of their cds, and I think you would really like them. Have the Zutons crossed the atlantic? They are big news over here at the moment.
I hope you haven’t spent any more money on extravagant luxuries such as x boxes, it is time you started saving for Christmas pressies. I picture the prodigal son returning dispensing gifts with great largesse.
By the way, Pete, if you read this comment. can you tell Max thank you very much for his very polite and well written thank you card!

I have spent money on extravagant luxuries, and your christmas present will be my presence – if you come to Dublin, that is. Any plans? I’ll be completely broke again by the – might as well accept it.
And I haven’t heard of any of the bands you mention, but that may be because my MTV days are behind me, and I’m an old fogey.
