« « Ask Anthony II| Oxygen and Neon - Vegas Part I » »Vegas, Baby!
Teaching is tiring – it really takes a lot out of me. I have my schtick pretty well down at this stage, but I’m still finding myself exhausted as I get off the train. It’s like an honest-to-God full days work, and we all know how much I hate that!
Three days in the NYFA this week, which is a welcome bit of change. I was going to take it all to Vegas with me, but in fact I ended up splurging pretty much the entire amount on a new suit/shirt/tie/shoes combo. Julian has done me the honour of asking me to read a blessing at the wedding on Sunday, and I mean to look my best. The blessing is in German, so he’s had to coach me a little, but I’ve always been able to do good accents in languages I don’t understand. As I approach comprehension, this musical appreciation just dies away – sad, but true. Luckily, I speak no German whatsoever.
This will be my first Jewish wedding ceremony, which should be interesting. It will also be my first time in Vegas, and I really hope that that doesn’t turn out to be interesting too. “Interesting” in that context would probably involve discovery of a hitherto-unsuspected gambling addiction, a sudden embroilment in organised crime, or possibly even unwitting involvement as a pawn in some elaborate heist. No, I’ve set my sites on “entertaining”.
I’m leaving early tomorrow morning, staying at the Aladdin Casino and Resort, and flying back on Monday afternoon. I don’t know whether I’ll be online much over the weekend, so it’s possible that comments may go unresponded-to, emails unacknowledged, and questions unanswered until Monday. Or possibly Tuesday. Please don’t think any the less of me.
