Lethargy

A , posted by Anthony in the evening.

Whoof, over three weeks. Well. Did anybody give up hope? I suppose if you did then you aren’t reading this and can’t comment. Anyway, I think I’ve heard from or of everybody I know in London at the moment, and all are safe and well, so on I go.

Five days after my last post my parents arrived for a visit. This was the second time they’ve headed to this side of the pond. The last time I wasn’t working, so I was able to hang out and show them around, and still do other things. This time I was working, so I had less time to spend, and much less time for myself. It was nice to see them, and I didn’t realise how much I’d missed them until they left again. I had a lot to eat over the the two weeks they were here, and fallen behind on pretty much everything else.

Irritatingly, I’ve had this week off. I would have preferred to have last week off, but what can you do? Since I’m freelance, I suppose I should say “unemployed” rather than “off” but the work seems fairly certain to continue for a while. I’ve started working on the next game now. It’s been nice, just communing with my hefty new laptop and staying up until 3am playing Rome: Total War and Half Life 2 and basically failing to accomplish all the things I should have been accomplishing. This is certainly a contrast to this time last year.

I see I also completely missed the second anniversary of this blog. I would say this site, but of course I’ve switched URLs. On that note, www.anthonyemigration.net has now died completely. I hope to have it up again in a week or two, but if you’re still using it or linking to it then you’re wasting your time at the moment. I’ve also noticed that I took a huge GoogleRank hit on changing. I expected this, but I also expected it to bounce back, which it hasn’t. This may or may not be because Google is devaluing blogs in their algorithm. That’s the tin hat explanation, anyway. The more prosaic one is that this site is just less popular. Oh, well – it still communicates with the people I want it to communicate with. Who needs an audience?

I was avoiding writing this entry because I thought it would be very long, consisting of all the things I got up to with my folks over the last couple of weeks and the various other interesting things that went on, but I see I haven’t done that at all. I hereby invite one or more of my parents to write some kind of account of themselves in order to fill in this gaping hole in my blog continuity. My blogtinuity, if you will.

I never gave up hope, as I could see you stopping over to visit my blog nearly daily.

Did you get the Total Realism patch for Rome?
